Custom Expression

What is the limit of trademarks?
So i have a name for a brand of custom shirts called (........) if i have a picture on the shirt of a skull with words under it do i have to register those words or are they free to use because they are just expressions.
Should i copyright the image of the skull??
Basically, you should file the name/logo as you use it or as you intend to use it. One of the reasons behind registering a trademark is having exclusive rights to your mark within your industry.
If the extra words are not part of your overall brand, filing them is probably not in your best interest. You may be able to copyright the overall design that's displayed on the front of the shirts but that won't protect the text.
Trademarks can be names of products or services, logos, slogans, packaging and even sounds and smells. In essence, a trademark can be almost anything that is used to identify a particular product or service. Registering a trademark grants the owner exclusive rights to the mark within the specified industry.
Of course, it's necessary to research the mark comprehensively prior to filing to ensure that there is no possibility of infringing upon another party.
This entails searching the pending & registered Federal and State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files. Then, if clear, you can decide if you would like to file for a Federal or a State trademark.
To register a trademark, that's done either through your Secretary of State for a State trademark or the US Patent & Trademark Office for a Federal trademark.
If you are only conducting business in one state, then a State trademark is most appropriate. If you conduct (OR are planning to conduct) business in at least 2 states OR between the US & any other country, you can file for a Federal trademark.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

To veil or to veil that is the question? Open question?
When as a tourist a woman visit a muslim country, out of respect for the country's religiousity and values she is usually encouraged to dress modestly. This is despite the fact that her freedom of expression is curtailed. Surely Muslim women should extend this kindness.
Muslim women living on or visiting a secular or Christian Country should respect the customs of that Country. Surely, if as part of her employment, she is asked to temporarily devail for her work then she should do so, just for work purposes?
Interested to hear from all parties for and against
Thanks
i think religion is a private matter, just as it is a persons personal preference as to whether or not to use a veil.
how we feel about anothers actions is based upon our own preferences, but that is all it is - our preferences, and possibly prejudices. for example, to cite another recent phenomena the hoodie and the stereotypes surrounding that...in the eighties it was the skinhead now it is more of a fashion statement....HOWEVER not to digress further, if there was a valid reason for her employees to request her to remove her veil, then she should perhaps consider from their point of view why they are requesting her to do so and if she still feels that her own feelings are worth more than her employers then she should look for alternative employment..so yes, she should if the request was valid...
