Linear Potentiometer
How do i build a variable voltage supply?
The requirements are it should be made from an op-amp and a MOSFET (not a commercial regulator chip). It should also provide an output voltage of 0-5 V at 500 mA, adjustable using a potentiometer. Also this circuit should have short circuit protection.Linear regulator instead of a switching one should suffice.Any ideas?
You need a reference voltage to hold one input of the op-amp at the desired output voltage the other input of the op-amp is connected to the output voltage (probably with a voltage divider) so that the op-amp drives the MOSFET to provide the desired output. To make it variable just vary the reference voltage.

Help me find a replacement 10K single turn linear potentiometer?
I'm looking for a replacement 10K single turn linear potentiometer. See http://flickr.com/photos/bartt/147193085/ and http://flickr.com/photos/bartt/147188961/ for photos. (The best I could do w/ a camera phone.) This pots comes out of a breast pump. The manufacturer couldn't help me to a replacement part.
Unlike most pots, this pots doesn't have 3 but 5 terminals. Web searches have brought up nothing remotely similar.
No manufacturer part number present on the potentiometer either. All it reads is B10K. Which means linear 10K Ohm potentiometer, right?
mapleguy, I think you are right. The connectors on the side look to be for support. And like you suggested it appears that they also provide grounding.
I believe you will find that the two side contacts are meerly supports, and not electrical connections, though they may ground the case. You should be able to substitut a standard three connection type, and put a non-metalic support behind it. Anyway, is there any part number or manufacture printed on it? thet may help find an exact replacement. Who made the pump unit, and what model is it. That will also help find one.
